A note from Pearl Cleage
Upper Eastside
2022
I remember sitting in our apartment in the Upper Eastside, realizing that focusing purely on agency work wasn't 1) fulfilling spiritually or artistically, and 2) to gain the respect as an artist you have to take a RISK and create something of your own that represents you(re) (LANGUAGE). That way when you circle back to agency work, companies are coming to you for YOU. Basically it's Artist vs. Technician. This note from Pearl was a couple weeks after we established that our next film will be "Live at Club Zebra". Also a sign assuring us that we were on the right path. Thats what 9:10 is all about.

To the Silent Giant,
Some of my fondest memories as a baby are filled with the joy of running around your house, carefree and lost in my imagination, only to be swept away by the amazing smell of your legendary biscuits wafting from the kitchen! You truly created a sense of home at 2201, and I wish you were here to hear and witness these stories firsthand. As I grow older, I realize the incredible impact you've had not just on me and our family, but on the entire Adams Park community.
You designed the very doors I walk through every day!
Thank you, Grandmommy! Don’t worry, we’ll make sure the world knows about your brilliance!
Love,
M.A.A

The Adeboyé Brothers c/o Sam Hooke

A moment of stillness, captured by photographer Sam Hooke just minutes after the standing ovation that followed our film Live at Club Zebra. Three hundred souls gathered to honor a story that highlighted a moment in time during a cultural renaissance in Atlanta. It was more than a premiere; it was a celebration of our collective creativity, a testament to three years of sacrifice, grit, and unshakable belief in the vision.
That night felt like our first true offering to the world as artists. The applause, the energy, the shared connection—it’s a feeling that defies words.
During the making of Live at Club Zebra, I uncovered pieces of myself I hadn’t yet known and saw my city through a lens I’d never used before. Atlanta, revealed itself to me in unexpected ways. The true richness of its culture, the stories tucked away in its corners, and the pulse of its people—everything I had been searching for was right there, waiting to be seen.
That night, standing among those who believed in the story as deeply as I did, I realized the magic wasn’t just in the film—it was in the journey that brought us here.
